Giving is an expression of our trust that God owns everything and we are merely stewards of those gifts. Paul reminds the church of the reason we should be generous in 2 Corinthians 8:9:
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor; so that you through his poverty become rich.”
Seeing Jesus’s sacrificial love for us helps us to become sacrificial and generous people. It is our joy and privilege to give to the Lord as an act of worship.
